After morning registration at Momella Gate, begin your trek through the lower montane forest of Arusha National Park. Since these slopes host large populations of Cape buffaloes, zebras, and giraffes, an armed park ranger will lead your group for safety. Pass the famous Fig Tree Arch and the beautiful Maio Waterfalls before checking into Miriakamba Hut for a hot dinner cooked by your private team.

Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut
Climb steeply through the dense, beautiful heather forests covered in trailing mosses. Ascend via wooden stairs to Elephant Ridge (Mngongo wa Tembo) for a breathtaking look down into the volcanic crater floor and ash cone. The path opens up into alpine moorland as you approach Saddle Hut. Enjoy a fresh hot lunch and a relaxed afternoon resting your legs.

Socialist Peak Summit Arc & Little Meru Bonus
Wake up at midnight for your classic summit push. Scramble past Rhino Point and traverse the breathtaking, narrow horseshoe crater rim arc made of volcanic rock and gravel. Reach Socialist Peak (4,566m) just as daybreak highlights the silhouette of Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance. Descend back to Saddle Hut for lunch. In the late afternoon, complete a short, easy walk up Little Meru Peak for an incredible sunset altitude bonus.

Saddle Hut Descent to Momella Gate
Enjoy your final breakfast prepared by the camp cook. Descend through the lush green forests via the southern route loop, which provides more opportunities to watch colobus monkeys playing in the tree canopies and wild plain game grazing. Arrive at Momella Gate to receive your official climbing certificates, then board your private cruiser back to Arusha town.
