Africa As It Whipped A Century Ago

Located in a remote pocket of western Tanzania, Katavi National Park stands as a rough-cut paradise reserved for seasoned safari connoisseurs. Dominated by deep seasonal lakes and vast alluvial plains, it remains a pristine wilderness entirely free from standard tourist corridors.

The Greatest Hippo & Crocodile Clusters

During the peak dry season months, the shrinking waters of the Katuma River prompt an unbelievable wildlife gathering. Hundreds of massive bull hippos are squeezed into tight river pools, sparking furious territorial battles. Right next to them, giant Nile crocodiles seek shelter in caves dug out along the muddy banks.

The Kingdom of the Cape Buffalo

Katavi is globally famous for protecting some of the largest remaining herds of Cape buffalo on Earth. Watch in awe as golden dust clouds rise across the Chada plain when massive herds of over a thousand buffalo cross the dry grasslands, moving as a single wall of horns to find water.

Raw Hunting Dynamics & Pure Isolation

Because it is so remote, the animals here display completely wild behaviors. Large resident prides of lions and fearless hyena clans actively shadow the buffalo herds day and night. You can watch these raw hunting dynamics unfold across the plains without another safari vehicle in sight.
