Excursion Overview

Tanzania's Most Authentic Anthropological Journey

Journey into the rugged, prehistoric landscape of the Lake Eyasi Endorois Basin to encounter two of Africa’s most fascinating and culturally distinct communities. Spend your morning with the Hadzabe, one of the planet's final remaining hunter-gatherer tribes, who have lived harmoniously within this wild valley for over 10,000 years. Later, bridge the gap between lifestyles by visiting the Datoga pastoralists, exceptional metalworkers who still practice ancestral blacksmithing techniques over open hand-bellowed fires.

Your private 4x4 safari cruiser departs Karatu or Ngorongoro at 05:00 AM to reach the valley before dawn. Meet your specialized tribal interpreter and join the Hadzabe men on an active bush foraging walk. Track wild game through the thorny acacia scrublands, watch them use hand-carved bows, and learn how they harvest medicinal wild tubers and honey. Immerse yourself in their ancient, complex click-language and gather around a hand-rubbed wood friction fire to hear ancestral tales.
