It smoothly transitions from alkaline wetlands to montane forests inhabited by rare primates, offering an intimate alternative to the wide open savannas.

The Pink Flamingos Configuration

A stunning system of seven shallow alkaline water bodies. Fed by underground streams, each lake supports distinct algal structures that attract thousands of greater and lesser flamingos, turning the shorelines into a vibrant pink spectacle. The waters also draw pelicans, herons, and nesting African fish eagles whose calls ring out across the wetlands.

The Colobus Monkey Sanctuary

The lower slopes of Mount Meru are draped in a ancient, misty montane forest. This emerald canopy serves as the primary refuge for the striking black-and-white colobus monkey, famous for its long, flowing white tail and impressive leaps. The old-growth fig trees also shelter blue monkeys, elusive leopards, and colorful forest birds like Hartlaub's turaco.
